Woman In Islam.. The Concealed Jewel

ALLAH created human beings
and guided them to the only way of success in this life and the afterlife.
Accordingly He (Glory to
him) will judge between the people according to their consistence with this way
And surely this is the
belief of any Muslim no matter it is for a man or woman, Arabic or non-Arabic
…etc.
In other words; concerning
their relation with ALLAH, there is no difference between man and woman...as
ALLAH promised all his obedient slaves the Paradise and an everlasting joy
without any discrimination between men and women.
This will be our main idea
to shed the light on through the following few lines.
But before we start, I'd
like to clarify that this article is not directed especially to Non-Muslims
only calling them to convert to Islam
nor to Muslims only increasing their belief and faith , but also it's a
message to the humanity , to all those who care about human rights .
How did Qur'an Treat woman?
The Holy Qur'an talked in many verses
(ayat) about the believers and their attributes and rewards in the Day of
Judgment, and in most of these verses are talking to men and women equally.
ALLAH says ( what means ) :
" For Muslim men and women, for
believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for
men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble
themselves, for men and women Who give in charity, for men and women who fast
(and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men
and women who engage much in God's praise, for them has God prepared
forgiveness and great reward." (33:35)
This is a clear and direct assurance on
the equality of man and woman in regard to their respective rights and duties.
Having a hard look to other religions,
as an example, we find some Christian Fathers assure that women do not possess
souls and that they will exist as sexless beings in the next life.
While The Qur'an says that women have
souls in exactly the same way as men and will enter Paradise if they do good.
ALLAH says (what means):
"Whoever works righteousness,
man or woman, and has faith, verily, to him will we give a new Life, a life
that is good and pure, and we will bestow on such their reward according to the
best of their actions." (16:97)
The wife in Islam …
Qur'an is the greatest constitution that
guaranteed to the wife all her rights to a great extent that increases the
importance of her position in the society and reserve her dignity, as mentioned
in surat AL-Nisaa (verse No.4) in the Holy Qur'an ALLAH says (what means): And
give the women (on marriage) their dower as a free gift; but if they, of their
own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, take it and enjoy it with right
good cheer.
This verse came at the very beginning of
the Surah assuring the importance of this right to be given to the wife.
And it's not over yet, Islam gave the
woman the right to do anything with this money, either to keep it or to give
some of it to her husband as a gift.
Talking about the relationship between
the married man and woman, Islam put a set of brilliant rules concerning their
life together under the main rule of love and mercy.
ALLAH says (what means):
And among His signs is this,
that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility
with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that
are signs for those who reflect. (30:21)
Also the two partners, husband and wife,
are a shelter, a garment, and a safe side to one another.
ALLAH says (what means):
They (your wives) are your
garment and you are a garment for them. (2:187)
We must stop at the word "garment",
this word carries a collection of splendid meanings of comfort, secure, and
chastity.
Also our prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave
the best example in treating his wives in various situations and places giving
us the only way to spousal happiness enlightened by Islamic rules and
regulations.
There are countless examples on this,
from these are...
1-
The
prophet (PBUH) used to eat and drink from the same plate with his wife, according
to what Aisha ( may ALLAH be pleased with her) said what means :she used to
drink and then handle the cup to the prophet (PBUH) so he drinks from the same
position of her mouth.
2-
The
Prophet (PBUH) always gave gifts to the friends of his wives…
When he (PBUH)
slaughters a sheep he used to say: "send it to khadija's friends"
Reported by Muslim
3-
We
all know that in the west, any woman is commonly called by her family name or
father's name, and after marriage she is called with her husband name.
This is considered a
neglection to her humanity and hurts her dignity.
Now let's see what the
prophet (PBUH) did concerning this!!
One day the prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) was asked about the person he loves most.
You'll like his answer...
He (PBUH) said:
Aaaaisha
They asked: and what
about men?
He (PBUH) answered: Her
father (Means Abu bakr)
Look! He is declaring his love to his wife calling
her name assuring her humanity and his esteem to her.
This is usually the way Islam treats woman
as a wife; gives her special considerations, respect her humanity, and defend
and reserve her rights…
One of the most significant recommendations
in the Hadiths of the Prophet (PBUH) is this one
When Mo'awia asked the prophet
(PBUH) about the rights of one's wife
He (PBUH) said: "Feed her if you eat,
Dress her if you dress, don't hit or slap her in the face, and only avoid her
in bed (i.e. don't punish her by leaving the house)"
This everlasting recommendation
to us from our prophet (PBUH) is a crown on the head of every Muslim to be
proud of in regard to honoring the wife and respecting her.
The Muslim mother …
Now we are going to shed the light on
one of the most glorified people in Holy Qur'an, making paradise at her feet.
ALLAH says (what means):
"Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none
but him, and that ye be kind to parents. whether one or both of them attain old
age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but
address them in terms of honor." (17:23)
It is surely a great honoring to the
mother; that the Holy Qur'an made being kind and considerate to her at the
second place after Antitheism… this order came with details explaining forms of
well treatment with parents assuring the necessity of obeying this order from ALLAH.
Also it was reported by Moa'wia ibn
Gahima that one day he came to the prophet (PBUH) asking him to go and
fight with him and other Muslims for the sake of ALLAH and his rewards
The prophet (PBUH) said amazingly: is
your mother alive?
He said: yes
Then the prophet (PBUH) said: go back
and be kind with her
Then he repeated his request three times
The prophet finally said: go and stay at
the feet of your mother you'll find paradise there.
What a great ennobling!
ALLAH apostle (PBUH) recommended the man
to stay and be kind with his mother instead of fighting for the sake of ALLAH,
asserting that being obedience to her means obeying ALLAH and his messenger
(PBUH).
After all these criteria, the newcomers
are proud of specifying one day to honor the mothers … how come this?
While ALLAH honored the mother and
exalted her in his everlasting Book more than 1400 years ago, this book that
can be never changed or modified whatever happened.
Honoring mother in Islam is not limited
to Muslim mothers only, but it includes every mother even if she was a
non-believer.
ALLAH says (what means):
We have enjoined on man
kindness to parents: but if they (either of them) strive (to force) thee to
join with Me (in worship) anything of which thou hast no knowledge, obey them
not. Ye have (all) to return to Me, and I will tell you (the truth) of all that
ye did. (29:8)
Even if the parents are non-Muslims;
Islam guaranteed their rights on the sons, giving a great example in good deeds
and admitting the parents' vantage.
Mother's prayers also can lead her son
to happiness and success, and on the other hand when she gets angry with him,
he will find only grief and fail.
Having a look on all existing religions
on the world, none of them gave the mother honoring and ennobling like what
Islam gave her and what our prophet (PBUH) told us to do with her… perchance
the level-headed may think carefully!!
The Muslim Girl
She is the concealed jewel and the
protected diamond, to which Islam gave the same rights as man considering the natural
differences between them.
For example; Islam gave her the right to
inherit her parents after their death, while some other religions give the
inheritance to the male sons only ignoring the presence of females.
Also, Islam guaranteed her right of chastity
ALLAH (the glorified) says (what means):
But force not your maids to
prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the
goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, if
God Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them).
(24:33)
This ayah (verse) reply to a man called
Abdullah ibn obaiy who used to force his maids to prostitution to gain money.
This ayah (verse) protects and defends
the girl's chastity and respects her humanity.
Moreover Islam gave the Muslim girls a
lofty right that dignify her and increase her respect in the eyes.
It is the Veil (hijab), ALLAH (the glorified)
ordained this veil to honor and protect the girl and to assure her chastity and
spotlessness in the society.
Also it makes the girl like a fortress
against Satan, so he cannot seduce her or allure men who see her.
On the other hand; Islam gave the Muslim
girl her right to choose her life partner, and ordered her parents to make sure
of his deeds and religiosity and not to accept him until the girl is satisfied
with him.
************
It was reported by Abu huraira
that the prophet (PBUH) said what means:"If a man came to you wishing to marry
your daughter and you are satisfied with his deeds and religion, then accept
him to avoid corruptness "
************
Also He (PBUH) said: "the woman (not
virgin) can only get married after her acceptance, and the Maiden after her
permission"
They said: what is her permission?
He answered: to keep silent.
************
There are more and more of these
criteria that proves the high importance of the woman's dignity, and the
necessity of fulfilling her rights to achieve equality and fairness with men in
duties and rights considering their innate differences.
The prophet (PBUH) said what means:
"ALLAH behests you to be good with
women, as they're your mothers, daughters, aunts; There was men of those who
received the book (Christians and Jews) who used to marry young women and when
she become old they leave her."
Or whatever he (PBUH) said...
Thanks, ALLAH for making
us Muslims, it's the priceless blessing you granted to us.
Allah says what means:
"God doth wish to make clear to
you and to show you the ordinances of those before you; and (he doth wish to)
turn to you (in mercy): and God is all knowing, all wise. God doth wish to turn
to you, but the wish of those who follow their lusts is that ye should turn
away (from him), far, far away. God doth wish to lighten your (difficulties):
for man was created weak (in flesh)."(4:26-28)
